Brief part 1. - Emerald Ring
This was the design and creation of two unique pieces of jewellery with an Art Deco feel. The client truly loved this era and wanted her ring and necklace designed around this. The ring was an existing ring which I remodeled and re-set along with creating a necklace to make a matching set.
I meet with Lisa to discuss using her existing 18ct yellow gold emerald engagement ring to make a more stylish modern classic ring. I initially asked her to tell me what she really didn’t like about her existing ring and how did she envisaged changing it. Really didn’t like the claw setting and would now prefer a white metal preferably platinum incorporating some new diamonds to jazz it up a bit.
I suggested a heavy rub over platinum setting for her fairly sizeable emerald cut emerald which would frame and accentuate the angular nature of the stone. I then suggested that this would have an Art Deco feel to it …………”I love Deco” said Lisa.
Great, lets have a channel setting of brilliant cut diamonds either side which would taper in size from 3mm to 1.5mm giving a great lead into the beautifully framed emerald. I made a wax model with all the stones set in place and Lisa loved it!
Brief part 2. - Emerald pendant
A year later Lisa’s husband Simon contacted me to say that he wanted me to design a pendant to celebrate her birthday.
“She really loves the emerald ring …………..could you make a pendant to match”.
Because the ring had been so successful we decided to play safe and make a very similar matching pendant which looks great as a matching set.
